Denmark store visits

See inside our pick for September’s store of the month, Meny Langenæs. It’s an impressive store that raises the bar in terms of providing a quality experience. The execution in wine, coffee, and meal solutions is best-in-class.

During a recent trip to Denmark, we visited four formats across Salling Group’s portfolio. This includes its discount, supermarket, hypermarket, and toy specialist formats. Understand each format in more detail including their different strategies and how they are meeting varied shopper needs.
Coop Danmark’s 365discount format has a new contemporary look and branding. It moves the banner’s design away from Coop’s look and feel, for shoppers to easily distinguish between the retailer’s discount and supermarket formats, reinforcing 365discount’s value credentials.
See inside Salling Group’s latest discount format, BASALT, introduced as a direct response to the economic pressures facing shoppers in Denmark. BASALT is a true hard discounter that offers a very different experience to anything else in Denmark, and increasingly across Europe, filling a gap for this type of no frills retailing.
We visited Salling Group's banners, Bilka, Netto and føtex, to see how the retailer is tailoring its strategy by format. The stores showcase the retailer's latest thinking in terms of design, shopper missions and local trends.
Dagrofa, which operates the SPAR banner in Denmark, has opened a flagship store in the highly competitive Copenhagen market. The new store introduces a completely updated design for the banner in the country, creating a new, shopper-first layout and offer that helps it stand out. Created to help SPAR’s independent store owners grow sales and with shoppers firmly front of mind, the format has generated a win-win situation for both parties.
MENY Nordhavn, which opened in Q4 2018, is Dagrofa's latest flagship store opening. We visited the store to see how the retailer has transformed a former weapons factory into a new, exciting and immersive supermarket.
Leading discounter Netto is rolling out its "discount store of the future" in Denmark and elsewhere in Europe. See how it is advancing the brand, improving fresh produce, signposting convenience, reflecting health and lifestyle trends and reimagining "SPOT" promotions.
See how 7-Eleven's new store design combined with vegetarian, vegan and organic food-to-go innovation creates a winning urban convenience format.
ANIKo is Aldi Nord's multi-billion euros project to modernise its stores across Europe. We visited Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany and The Netherlands to see how it is rolled out.
We spent a day with Dagrofa in Copenhagen where we saw how the retailer is playing to win in fresh while capitalising on the growth of organic and private label.
