A.S. Watson Group and Grab, the leading delivery and payment solutions provider in Southeast Asia, have formed a new partnership that will create the largest omnichannel health and beauty partnership in the region.

Access to more than 62,000 health and beauty products in six markets

Shoppers can now purchase a wide assortment of more than 62,000 health and beauty products from Watsons through Grab. The service is available in six markets: Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. Combining the largest health and beauty retailer in the region with the largest network of delivery drivers, will significant boost A.S. Watsons ability to drive online sales across the region.

Faster delivery, more products and cashless payments

This collaboration between Watsons and Grab will be rolled out in phases and includes:-

  • Faster delivery: by using the large on-demand parcel delivery fleet of Grab, Watsons customers will now be able to get their orders made through the Watsons website or app in hours (rather than days)
  • Access to Watsons’ online catalogue on GrabMart: the full online catalogue of Watsons will also be available on GrabMart, allowing customers to use the same app for booking transportation or parcel delivery, to place their orders for health and beauty products
  • Cashless payment through GrabPay: Watsons will soon integrate GrabPay, which is the region’s most popular digital wallet, with its mobile app.  And by allowing customers to receive GrabRewards loyalty points for all Watsons transactions made through this facility, it will enhance customers’ shopping experiences

Growth momentum from 2020 expected to be sustained

Prior to this partnership, Watsons’ own eCommerce business has seen strong growth with sales doubling in 2020.  Given the wide user base of Grab, the retailer expects that this collaboration will make Watsons’ products even more accessible to consumers, which will fuel its sales growth. Watsons International’s Chief Digital Officer, Freda Ng, commented, “COVID-19 accelerated the growth of eCommerce and our customers expect their purchases to be delivered fast. With our unparalleled network of 2,200 stores in Southeast Asia which is a core touch point for customers and key to enabling fast deliveries, Grab is the ideal partner to complete the purchase journey.”
