Coles has reported Q1 sales for the 13 weeks to 29 September up 4.9% to AU$8,905m. All other retail arms of Wesfarmers continued to grow well, despite Target, where its leadership team is overseeing a longer term transformation. Woolworths is trialling in-store coffee kiosks in its stores in Melbourne and Sydney. Initial tests in three stores Woolworths has installed the coffee pods into its Ashwood and Moonee Ponds stores in Melbourne and one in Sydney, allowing customers to enjoy a coffee or snack when doing their shopping. Costco reported a 6.0% increase in net sales for the fiscal year ended 1 September 2013 to $102.9bn, with comparable store sales up 6%.  Operating income rose by 10.7%, to  $3,053m, for the full fiscal year.
